i know there were djs booked who think they are "to cool" to promote. So i wouldnt be surprised if it sucked. If the success of any given party depends on the DJs promoting it themselves, then said promoter deserves to have a shitty party and lose his ass.THIS! The festival couldn't have been promoted ANY BETTER than what it was... I had a gig in Columbus a few weeks back, and what do i see on the bar? LAND OF NOD FLYERS. Obviously something is done right when the promotional train is running state to state, especially if it's something well outside of the lines of Movement. Pretty tight work imo.

I heard from my boy who worked as a vendor they estimated maybe 1,000 peep showed up throughout the entire weekend and the promoters were talking some shit like 50,000 pre-sales sold.
50,000 dude? Clearly you're friends with fucking idiots.

Well I heard that the organizers busted their fucking ass on this in order to make it happen--- I had some other remote friends that helped as well. Kudos to the attempt despite the weather, the logistics and the shit attitudes involved...

They promoted the fuck out of this event...I saw ads, often in every free weekly from here to Chicago, even radio and a ton of internet promotion...I saw a damn van driving around A2 all spring with a huge billboard..
It sounds like a mixed bag review-wise.

That is going to happen. There are just too many events happening all around the country in the summer. No one minds driving for a few hours for a great party in a different state when it is nice.

i weathered some of the most intense storms I can recall ever driving through in Michigan to get to this place. unfortunately, I had to return because of stupidity. I didn't read my ticket information that stated I needed to purchase a camp parking pass online only. so I tried to hustle my way in, but was given the cold fish. I was willing to pay the 99 dollar vip camping charge, too. it really pisses me off to read people were coming and going as they please. I ended up at this crazy slot car place on the other side of town, then back to Ann Arbor with the people that were following me.
I brought an awesome picture of Ed Rush and Optical from the time they played in Detroit at St. Andrews. I was hoping they would sign it, or whatever, as those guys are two of my music heroes. sucks.

Exactly....I was in a small bar in Port Huron over a week ago, same thing. Flyers were everywhere. And Disciple: while I do promote gigs I am playing at, my point is if the promoter knows what he/she is doing then they should have already strategized how to fully target the talents' existing fan base, and then some. It's not about the DJs being too cool or not, just (to clarify) if the success is dependent on the DJs promoting it then the promoter is clearly doing it wrong.

I got to fucking MC for Q-Bert Sunday night which pretty much made my fucking weekend!!! I got to watch Ronin and Q-Bert side by side and for a minute I thought they were going duel it out Then we chilled afterwards and he told me I should get back into turntabilism...I had blisters on my hands from raking woodchips and I worked a lot more than I anticipated but it was all worth it in the end. Props to all those that were there and had a great time. If you didn't it was probably your own damn fault. If anybody has pics or video from Q-Bert's set please let me know!!! Dr. Octagon killed it too!!!!

You literally walked in circles... But you had a big grin the whole time and were loving life! I had a great time! I was soaked, bit by mosquito's, and then ended with sunburn! I made the most of the situation and it was a good one! The music was great and you got a little bit of everything! Rock, Electro, and plenty of beats. By the time I got there cars were not allowed in the camping area, so I just set up my tent in the parking lot across the road. Too lazy to carry the stuff to the camping grounds. It worked out fine and had no problems. Had a very unique neighbor in the RV next to us, which made for interesting moments. People watching and meeting was great! I can't wait to do it again!

What A giant ... huge ... intense ... meaningful awesome time I had at this place! Seriously ... great music and a wonderful experiment I must say .... ;-) Thanks to all involved ... We have evolved because of you ... Will be there next year for sure ! Except hopefully the security doesn't get so scared when they finally notice VIP's are not so VIP. Wish I could have been there for the sunday night bonfires ... oh well, there is alway next time. Oh and what was up with people sucking on Diesel fuel and spitting it in the dirt? That was a bit extreme and I don't think the Universe nature really enjoys that very much ... just a thought.
