So I missed the fight last weekend ... of course. Whats the deal ... Pelligrino got whooped huh, did he look like he got way too high or what? And whats the deal with Carwin, looked like he got at least a couple of good punches in there. Is Lesnar really badass?!
Doesnt matter ... Velasquez is on a vision quest. He is going to get there, and when he does I believe he will have the power to stay there. Unless Brock cheats and rubs some sort of vision blocker in his eyes during the fight ... like in all the boxing/fighting movies.
Dude, I'm done doubting Lesnar. I seriously thought that diverticulitis was going to be the end of him, but he stormed back and won that fight fair and square. I think Velasquez is a great athlete, but no way is he going to beat Brock. That belt is his for at least another year and a half.
What impressed me most was Chris Leben vs. Akiyama. To begin with, I don't think Akiyama belongs in the middleweights, but the fact that he took some of Leben's best and gave good account of himself, only losing through carelessness in the last minutes of that fight, coupled with the fact that Leben took that fight after a tough test against A Train is a testament to the fact that both dudes totally belong in the UFC. I can't wait to see Akiyama fight Bisping.
As for Pellegrino, going into that fight, I didn't know anyone who picked him to beat Sotiropuolos. George is a contender, plain and simple. I think the lightweight division represents some of the absolute best fighters, and I can easily foresee a period of that belt changing hands multiple times. Only LHW has it beat in terms of competitiveness.
