New Directions sells a ton and a half of stuff...   Their website is a lot of fun to browse around on, and their prices are super low and they offer exceptional quality!   I have been buying stuff from them for years and I have not one complaint!

The good news is that when we mix neem oil with coconut oil, we can apply it to our body, face, eyelids, etc, and the neem oil will soak into our skin and create an environment that is not dissimilar to how a soldier in WWI would have felt if he didn't have his gas mask and somebody lobbed some mustard gas into his trench.

An excruciating death will surely result for the hapless little mite that decided to make a neem user's skin his place of residence!    Evil

OK, getting back to the toxicity angle....

When I very first started experimenting with neem oil, I noticed that it seemed to have a stimulating sort of effect, so I decided to coat my entire body with it and sit in a sauna and let all of the oil mix with my sweat and saturate my body.  I did this two days in a row, which led to loose stools that had the smell of neem oil!

After doing some research to make sure I didn't blow out my liver, I found a study that scientists overdosed rats and they turned out OK, so I tried not to worry too much about it.  After a a week or so, I started to get back to normal, and as of today, I'm pretty sure it did no lasting harm.

Assuming you do not want to do this, mixing a 1:4 ratio of neem oil to coconut oil will work very well as the neem oil really kills the hell out all sorts of malicious microorganisms and if a person is doing this regularly, then over time the skin will be loaded up at nice levels.

A very important thing to remember is that if the issue is being caused by an allergic reaction to proteins, when vast swaths of mites are killed all at once, there will be an exponentially larger quantity of protein to have an allergic reaction to.  This will appear to be a worsening of the symptoms.  If all goes well, by going more slowly with a diluted neem oil, this sort of reaction will be minimized.

One of the things that I have found is tremendously helpful for healing the skin is the steam distilled essential oil of myrrh.  For this, if you can touch with your finger where you want to heal the skin, the myrrh oil can be applied a drop at a time, undiluted.   It also smells very nice!  Smiley

Between the neem/coconut oil and the myrrh oil, a great many skin conditions can be remedied!

A very interesting posting!

Another great oil, that is especially great for the skin, is neem oil.  I'm not surprised that the article didn't mention this, as in some instances, neem oil can be somewhat toxic.  I've overdosed myself on it before and I'm no worse for wear!  Smiley

The general idea is that the oil has a compound in it called azadirachtin which kills insects, arachnids, and aquatic life, but is relatively harmless for mammals.  Neem oil has a very long history in terms of veterinary use and it is especially good at killing the mites that are responsible for causing mange!

Speaking to the issue of skin health, there is a growing amount of research that links a great many skin disorders to the overgrowth of demodex mites.  These are the same kind of mites that infect animals, except these are the human subspecies.  They are approximatley 300nm long and they live in our oil pores and sebum glands.

Under normal circumstances, the mites go about their business and we never know they are there, but at some point, something happens that causes us to become allergic to the proteins that are contained in the mites' bodies.  When this happens, an inflammatory process begins and this allows staphylococcus bacteria to cause an infection.  Sometimes the inflammation manifests itself in conditions such as rosacea or even skin cancer.

Here is a link that has a ton and a half of great info about neem!

Over the years I couldn't help but to be repeatedly drawn to richie's 1996 concept releases. Its impossible for me not to appreciate it more and more. the artistic concept of : art before music. I strongly feel the "Akufen's Concept 1 Reinterpretations Volume 1" is one of the best records released. that being said, I couldn't help but be compelled to revisit them once again.
