Wait, so there's an entire section dedicated to the techno fest produced by paxahau, but paxahau is blocked from logging onto the site?  Roll Eyes

So is this thing at Motor on Saturday like the 16th 'last night' party at Motor? I've only been back a couple times since the club closed, but it seems like each year there are like 3 or 4 reunion parties and a 'last night' party. I thought the last one was cause the club was getting leveled or purchased/renovated or something?..

Beatport seemed...tired?  This ain't how we do.  They remind me of a snooty restaurant that used to be outlaw and good that read too many of its own reviews, got calcified, franchised and now serves old fish & yesterday's wine at maxed out prices all posted up next to glowing reviews from 2002.  Don't like the food or service? Get the fuck out...plenty of people will pay. next.

This. Great analogy!

DETUND label showcase was awesome. Kero and Richard killed it. My most enjoyed sets this year. Was great seeing gaslamp and flylo, though flylo sounded quiet and kept talking about being too f*cked up.

Rich's Control party was one for the history books: Most mellow party of his Ever. We felt like we were sleepwalking. Music was for the most part very tame, standard, not strange, people were pretty damn mellow, whole place was just... Mellow! strange. Totally agree with Picky. It was too odd not to notice.

As far as techno (or should I say tech-house?) goes at the festival, has it all gone to mush??? It still just sounds like warmed over tech-house, and increasingly more generic all around. How many times can you here the same keyboard stabs, a vocal "ohh" "Ohhhh", and some washed out delayed high hats? I mean, it's really creepy how ultra normal all that "techno" was sounding, with some notable exceptions (few). Made me think of just how much yesterdays rule breaking becomes tomorrows rules. Techno used to be groundbreaking, experimental, forward thinking in nature, grabbing whatever means of technology were in our grasp, and shaking them to the core for new ideas and sounds, and they were new, and the late 80's and 90's! I still hear great new techno records from time to time, that still contain that 4/4 beat, that are still doing new things, exploring ideas, presenting interesting sounds, melodies, questioning our reality through sound. I just don't particularly hear that much of it in the festival circuit. I guess that it should be obvious that festivals don't exactly lean in this direction, but they Could, a little bit more, and if you could get away with it anywhere it would be here.

well, that's my two. Still had fun, but too much of the stuff I heard simply caters to allowing wasted party goers to sway in the breeze, and not much more. It has it's place. I guess its place is a festival Tongue

Also, the redbull stage does have some great innovative acts, but it also has a ton of generic dubstep/electro house/high energy gabber step (?Tongue) going on, but those kids are YOUNG, so their responding so strong to the cheese as well as the meat is somewhat more excusable.

Meaning I don't think that you can purchase somebody else's ticket, so your only bets are knowing someone involved with organizing the show, or going through official channels. I'd just go to the afterparty booth that paxahau announced.

There better be a separate line for will call. I've heard some nightmare stories from past years, I've luckily been able to avoid those situations so far.

Why hate City Club? It's not that bad. I like the space but the bathroom situation sucks.

A friend procrastinated in getting her ticket early, now they aren't available online. Anyone know how we could get another ticket early so she doesn't have to go camp in line at 7pm?

As far as I know, tickets are will call and require id matching the purchasers at the door. Might be challenging. Paxahau announced that tickets will be available at the official movement afterparty booth in Hart Plaza somewhere near the exit or entrance. Probably your best bet, unless you know some of the paxahau folks.

I'm a weather freak too, but if there's one thing I've learned from watching the maps and listening to the forecasts this spring it's that in this changing season and with the influence of the great lakes, the forecast is only accurate about 48 hours out, and that's stretching it a bit!
